Until you're old

1. I may be old, I may be grey,
But my mind feels like it did yesterday,
I was once young you know, just like you now,
and through my eyes I'm still the same somehow.

Forget what you see in this old body here,
my soul doesn't age; I'm in my 83rd year,
something tells me that you'll never understand,
until you're old.

2. I've seen war, I've seen pain,
bad things happening again and again,
won't they learn, won't they hear,
pay attention to the history of years.

3. We had eight kids, they've grown and moved on,
the family spreads like a ripple on a pond,
I sit back now, in my comfortable chair,
I smile and feel warm with the breeze in my hair.

INSTRUMENTAL

4. I've lived lots of lives, I've laughed and I've cried,
and when I lost Leo a part of me died, but
growing old is ok, yeah, it's alright,
you get to see the world so clear and bright.

5. Comforting words, from books I have read,
they are my friend when I'm alone in my bed,
cherish the times, memories live on,
my heart full of love and the time long gone.
